An Exciting Announcement – Small Miracles

I am so excited to finally make one of my big announcements!  As many of you know, I am a natural humanitarian at heart… I love to give.  And that is one reason I have decided to launch a new project:  The Small Miracles Calendar.  We will be publishing a 12 month calendar for 2010 featuring 13 local children of various ages to raise money for the American Cancer Society.

Cancer is a scary thing – and unfortunately, almost everyone I know can say they have been affected in some way by it.  Either they are a cancer survivor themselves, or a close friend or family has been diagnosed with cancer.  Isn’t it sad that almost everyone can say they know someone who has had cancer?  And far too many people have known someone who lost the battle with cancer.  I personally lost a friend of mine to lung cancer just before Ivan.  What a devestating month.  He’d never smoked, he was a pretty straight and narrow guy, and he did so much for our community through helping young children stay in school & stay off the streets.  Yet, he lost his life at a young age to cancer.  Eric’s battle with cancer left an impression on so many.

So here we are, each of us in a place to help make someone else’s life and fate a little better, and this is how I’ve chosen to do it.  We will be hosting mini portrait sessions in late September  & early October.  For a small donation (recommended: $10), anyone can bring in their child to be photographed.  I am so thrilled, we have an awesome theme and look and these calendars are going to be PHENOMENAL!  We will be photographing all ages!  Then in mid-October the best image from each session will be put in an online gallery for voting.  Anyone can vote at only $1/vote.  The greatest part of all this is 100% of all proceeds will go to the local American Cancer Society.  100%!!!!

We are beyond excited!  The following days have been chosen for the sessions:

Sept 24 & 25 from 10 am – 7 pm at my studio

Sept 26 from 10 am – 7 pm at the Santa Rosa Mall (YAY!  This is being finalized as we speak!)

Oct 1 & 2 from 10 am – 7 pm at my studio

Oct 3 from 10 am – Noon at my studio

Oct 4 from Noon – 4 pm at my studio

Oct 5 – 7 from Noon – 7 pm at my studio

EVERY single person who participates will also have the option of purchasing one of these images.  Here is a little sampling of our “theme” and this is also the banner we are using for the calendar’s website.
